Readers interact with authors

Arensen (left) and Ogoola (second left) at the book-signing event

By Esther Namugoji

BOOK lovers were blessed to meet some of their favourite authors on Saturday at Garden City, thanks to the innovative book signing event organised by WordAlive Publishers at Aristoc Booklex, Garden City.

Besides getting their books autographed, readers got a chance to interact and engage the writers in discussions about their books and other current issues. Where else would one get the chance to have a relaxed chat with the very busy principal judge, James Ogoola whose poetry book Songs of Paradise has been a local sensation?

Dr. Tokunbo Adeyemo, the Nigerian lead editor of The Africa Bible Commentary, was present with two new titles on the crisis of leadership in Africa. Other authors included financial advisor Ken Monyoncho, Fred Geke, a life coach; Dr. Peter Okaalet and children’s fiction writer Shel Arensen.
David Waweru, the WordAlive publisher, said the event was just the first of several innovative ideas to be rolled out on the continent.

WordAlive started publishing in 2001, and has introduced both new African and famous international writers to African readers in a more affordable, and yet good quality format. The books live up to the house catchphrase: ‘feeding the mind, inspiring the soul’.
